Two great stories from dinner tonight. 
4 year old holds up two hanging spaghetti noodles and says 'I'm eating number eleven'  He ate one of them, and then he said he had the number 1.  (Had to make sure he didn't think 11 -1 = 1 though)

6 year old tells me the difference between fiction and non-fiction, which I ask him to illustrate with a fiction and non-fiction story about our puppy Kate. 
6 year old: 'non-fiction: would be Kate jumping onto the
table to eat food when no one is looking; fiction: would be Kate leaping and flying over our heads'

Verbal communication practice, and separating fact from fiction, important skills for life.

6 year old: "Hey mom I have an idea" 
Me: 'What's that?"
6 year old: "Can dad and I build a robot, with a video camera, so we can set it up to record Santa Claus leaving presents on Christmas?  I want to see
what he really looks like?" 
Me:"That's a great idea, let's talk to daddy on that one." 

We will have to stay a step ahead on this little guy's Santa spying skills.

Gave the 6 year old his half of bluberry muffin and vanilla ice cream cup for dessert. 
He looks at the plate, "I am going to eat the ice
cream first, and the muffin second, since the ice cream will melt".
Can't fault that dessert logic.
